James Poindexter {also known as} DJ Clean started out DJing at 12 years old as a poor kid from the Cleveland, Ohio Glenville community. One day in 1982 he saw Jam Master Jay from Run DMC on Soul Train and thought to himself .... I can do that.

   From that day forward on birthdays and Christmas he began to ask his mother for DJ equipment, after a few years he pieced together some cheap equipment [ some from Radio Shack } some from secondhand pieces his neighbors didn't want.

  He slowly began to build up a record collection, instead of buying school lunch, he would take his lunch money and buy the hottest songs needed to throw basement parties. One day him and his soon to be best friend from the neighborhood, a guy named Ronald Fields threw parties on the same day. 

   DJ Clean's party ended up being a dud .... Everyone from the surrounding area was attending Ronalds party. DJ Clean and Ronald had a mutual friend named Darnell Williams who was riding his bicycle back and forth between both parties.

     Ronald conveyed to Darnell that James aka DJ Clean was welcome to come and check out the party. James and his cousins Jerome and Jwan headed over to Ronald Fields party just a few blocks away on 114th & Superior. The  party was packed, Ronald had a full backyard and good sound.

      We finally got a chance to meet, and a few days later he came over to my apartment building to check out my setup. He was amazed that someone who lived so close to him had a setup like his. That day we become friends and started DJing together .... the year was 1985.

      I am proud to say that in 2026 Ronald and I are still friends and we both still DJ. When you hire DJ Clean you are getting over 40 years of extensive music knowledge. Even though I'm now considered an older gentleman, my music library stays current.
